MY STORY
Hey there! Thanks for taking the time to read a little about who I am.
Music has always been a huge part of my life. From playing piano duets with my mom to hearing my dad hit notes on a trumpet I never thought were possible, and playing music at my church.
I started playing percussion in 6th grade and joined the concert band in my small hometown of Chesnee, SC. I was lucky to have great teachers who helped me build a solid musical foundation. That summer, I joined the marching band and earned the top bass drum spot (#1) on the drumline. Over the next few years, I switched to snare drum and eventually became drumline captain. I also auditioned for and played snare in a couple independent WGI drumlines, meeting some awesome people along the way.
After high school, I went off to college and got involved with a campus ministry called Cru. Shortly after starting my freshman year, my dad passed away—the man who would sit in the living room with a smile, listening to me practice loud snare drum solos, always supporting me and reminding me how much he loved me. During that extremely difficult time, my friends at Cru surrounded my brother and me with love and support. I also saw God place men in my life that I could look up to, talk to, and lean on as I grew in my relationship with Him.
My dad was a truck driver for many years, and his nickname on the road and around his friends was Alley Cat. When I started brainstorming names for my studio, it was the only one that felt right. I wanted to create something bigger than myself and in honor of my father, Alan Conner.
